Mazatlan anchorage

Picture of our anchorage in Mazatlan....middle island. Another sunny, warm day in the town that was "officially " founded in 1591 by Nuno de Guzman....not to mention the natives that had lived here in pre-Hispanic times.
We are off to Old Town in a few hours...before the heat and humidity become unbearable.

Cap Cat on the Baja Ha Ha

Lost my camera....water....lost pictures......bottom of the Ocean.....But this is Cap Cat with crew having a blast on the Ha Ha. Katie, John, Hailey, Wayne and Carol.....San Diego to Cabo with stops in between at Turtle Bay,
Santa Maria and finally, Cabo. Warm and sunny here ....88 degrees, water temp 81 and rising. Bob and Dorene are with us again for the trip to Mazatlan, Isla Isabela, Chacala, Punta Mita and La Cruz. More pictures to follow.....hopefully.

Best crew ever....they're ours !

Bob is still smiling after spending 3 weeks with us and helping the Capt with greasy grimy messy boat projects~~~ Dorene is still smiling after spending 3 weeks with us and helping me cook, clean and keep our guys happy~~~~
Is it the wine? good company? they are on a Catamaran? maybe because they are not on their boat so they don't have to think about their bottom paint, inverters, rudder, pumps and rigging. Whatever it is, we were glad to have them aboard and are sad that they had to leave to go back home to work on their rentals. Good news is that they will be joining us again from Cabo to PV. I'm sure the Capt can find some more projects for Bob and Dorene and I can start cooking up exotic dishes again.

Once again working on the boat

Wayne and Brad work on the sail drives....they love it Cap Cat on the hard.....3rd time in less than 12 months....we get a medal for that???

A day in Avalon

We took a walk up into the hills in search of Zane Grey's home and found this lovely view...Cap Cat is down there somewhere..we did find his house but it smelled like he was buried there...nice view though Of course there are the NO signs...we ignored them...
The Jazz festival was going on and we found this Jazzy pelican on one of the side streets...cool man!

Catalina and the Pirates

Stupid me forgot my camera....so all I have is these lame pictures...at night we saw all the crazy people dressed as Pirates. We made it till 9 pm and then headed back to the boat...you can only drink and say "RRRRRRRRRR" for so long. It was a beautiful 2 days~~ warm and sunny...are we in Mexico?

We made it to Ventura

Heather and Jim on Meerkat....our bestest friends from La Paz and my blog mentor met us at the Marina in Ventura....check on facebook for her crazy pictures of us at dinner. So great to see their smilling faces and catch up with stories.

Almost to Catalina

Capt takes a break and begins to read his Spanish slang book....what's the word for lazy??? We actually put the bumblebee chute up for a bit of downwind sailing.

Bob sets the sails and we are getting closer to Catalina.

On the Way to San Diego...

Dorene decides to become Groucho Marx for the night.... a cold but beautiful sunset~~at least the fog was gone.

Trip from San Francisco to San Diego

Bob and Dorene decide to come with us from SF to San Diego..are they brave or what? We say good bye to Baby Jackson...see you in 60 some days...

Fog under the GGB...not fun...good thing we could hear the fog horns because we could only see about 20 feet in front of the boat!

Last sunset in La Paz..last posting until San Diego

One more beautiful La Paz sunset...just for us. See you all in July....

Eric the Great arrives

Eric arrives and the Capt give him a "fun "job of taking apart the broken head pump and clogged lines.....doesn't the boy look happy????
" Hey, Cat Paw, You told me this was going to be a sailing trip not a plumbing trip!"

Peace out , Eric.....it's all good. Soon we will be wearing those long jackets and missing the heat of La Paz.

Good bye Guaymas

Horacio and Arriana our friends at Singlar, Guaymas, celebrate their birthdays with a bbq for everyone. That cake was delicious! It was then off across the Sea on our way to La Paz to meet up with our friends, Heather and Jim ,on Meerkat.
Wouldn't you know it...calm seas but the wind blowing from the South...just the direction we want to go for the next 5 days!
So what were the highlights of the 5 days...
almost bumping into several pods of HUGE whales
dolphins riding our motoring bows
marlin jumping out of the water several times right behind the boat
tons of flying fish
coolish water for swimming and snorkeling
red rocks in Los Gatos
beautiful anchorages
waking up at dawn to see the sunrise
prices in La Paz ...higher than Guaymas
101 degrees in Marina de La Paz

back in the water again...42 days on the hard

I know most of you couldn't stand to wait so I put the pictures in reverse...new stairs getting wet backing down the ramp...it doesn't look steep but believe me it is...nothing is hitting or breaking

Greg and Wayne on the top...I'm in the back...praying
We made it ...phew! Big event in the yard...everyone had their fingers crossed...no yelling...
we are now on the dock in the water. All we came in for was a bottom paint job and somehow or other we ended up with new props and new back stairs. Go figure.

Splash Party

We had a pre splash party in the hot...warm...tub yesterday....drinking our new receipe of fruit, juice and tequila to celebrate the hopeful splash of Cap Cat on Wednesday.

Anyone want a puppy?

Lulu the yard dog slut just gave birth to 7 puppies...again...just what Guaymas needs....7 more skinny dogs running around having more puppies.

Stairs....white.....almost finished

We are almost there.....putting on non skid today....splashing back in tomorrow.....

Bimbo Bambino

I love these Bimbo shirts....soccer team..... so I bought one for the Bambino....He'll probably only wear it once but what the heck...a grannie has to do what a grannie has to do. It cost all of 30 pesos...about $2.50 US. Oh, yeah, it came with shorts.

What I do while in the friggin hot boat yard????

One... of my favorite places to check out every morning....yummy donut holes with cream inside Mr. Jugo is right across the street...we haven't tried him yet because the bakery has good coffee.

My friend, Anna, gal on the right, has been my biker buddy for the past week or so. She has her boat in the yard too...we take off on errands and the guys work....perfect!

Comadres....where are you???

I miss my comadres.... I miss a great American Burger
I don't miss pot lucks because we have them every Sunday plus it means that I don't have to cook anything. I'll just make a salad and call it good!

My GF is leaving the yard

I cry, boo hoo, stamp my feet, wave good bye but nothing will deter Phil from leaving to visit with his Nieta, Gabriella. Lucky for us, he will be in Sacto and will be coming to Brisbane to paint the inside of Cap Cat. Then we can all get together with Eupsychia crew and Merry our first crew member, for a fiesta or a rousting sail on the Bay.

Sticky back stairs of Cap Cat

Guys are working alike crazy but we are probably only 1/2 completed. Next is the grinding, cough, cough, dust, dirt stage. El Viejo now has a nice rash over his body from all the fiberglass. Luckily we wear heavy duty masks and vacuum constantly. How many more days???????

Mannsea Phil and CC Wayne taking a well deserved break

Finding shade under the boat, Phil and Wayne try to down some water and cool off after working in the heat. oday they finished all the prepwork for the fiberglass guys. Thank goodness for Phil...tomorrow we are all going to have a massage at the new Singlar Massage center. Results to be announced tomorrow evening.

What gringos don't wear in Guaymas

I guess I should know this but why do most women wear long, tight pants when it is 90 degrees and 90 % humidity? At least they are not wearing high heels like the women in La Paz.

time out for shopping

We ran out of coffee and chocolate....yipes!

We are two wild and crazy gals!

Doreen, my friend from Scottish Mist in San Carlos, came over and picked me up for a girls day of shopping. We had ice cream cones for lunch and then went shopping for clothes. I managed to find a dress, a pair of pants and a top. A miracle for me! So much more fun to go shopping with a woman. I probably would have ended up buying epoxy if I went with the Capt!
This was the 4th store we checked out...we didn't stay too long as the air conditioning was not working. Plus, we couldn't find a bull whip to go with the hats.
